WITCH Speak: November 2018
Hello my darlings,
When I first started dancing in the light lane, I was told that if I changed my thinking I could change my life. Trooper that I am, I worked very hard to change my thinking, to stay positive in the face of life’s difficulties, and it worked for awhile. When it stopped working, I was told it was my fault. I was “trying,” not “doing.” Last I checked “try” and “do” are part and parcel of the other but hey I was willing, so I tried, I mean did harder. All I could think was, clearly I’m defective and doomed to misery, which I was afraid to share because you weren’t allowed to have any thoughts or feelings that weren’t positive.
What I know now, but didn’t know then, was that changing your thoughts without changing your context will work for awhile, but then it stops. It’s supposed to. Our judgment of self and feeling is rooted in our context, and in most cases that context, which was the soil of our survival mechanisms when we were young, is fairly useless as we get older and the authentic self begins her journey to the surface.
A child’s socialization/programming is primarily responsible for context. You are socialized/programmed to fit into society, by family, church, education, culture, etc. The programming ultimately coalesces into a lens through which you see (perceive) and judge yourself and other.
If a theme you don’t like repeats over and over in your life, and you’ve had no success releasing it, then you’re not supposed to release it. You’re supposed to transform it. There’s something in shadow calling the shots that needs to be transformed. Shadow is the repository of our dark and darker feelings and the wounds that created them. When a a human being is truly conscious, the wounds of yesterday no longer control her/him and the narrative that is her life. In other words, she can create a new story.
The shadow does not need healing; the shadow needs to be heard, acknowledged, and recognized for the powerful, evolutionary tool it is. Working with shadow is an alchemical process. You have the power to turn the ugly and disowned into gold, by loving the person (you) who is/was so wounded. This is an what an act of self-love looks like; this is right use of power.
If you want to change your life and the world, commit to loving yourself beyond all reason, and be willing to be willing to change. Get politically involved. Vote. Educate yourself about the issues. See who supports what. Love yourself, your planet, and the tribe of humanity as much as you love your children, your pets, a dear friend, or lover. What I used to do when I began to try to actively love myself was watch a sweet animal video, get that love feeling going, and then I’d look at a picture of me, place my hand on the picture and feed the love in. I tried, I did, and now I do love myself, beyond all reason. It's been a long fucking process and absolutely worth it, even though there have been days, months, even entire years when I wished I didn't have to think, process, feel, or analyze.
FYI: acts of self-love (the ultimate rebellion for a woman living in a patriarchy) include anything that gives you pleasure, setting boundary, saying “No!” and giving over to the process of uncovering and reclaiming who you are and living from that authenticity. Your authenticity, not your mother’s, best friend’s, culture’s, lover’s, wife’s or husband’s idea of your authenticity.
In witch tradition as I practice it, courage is of the west; the water. So is love. Aphrodite/Venus the Goddess of Love is an alchemical Goddess. Love changes everything it touches, and everything it touches changes. Slowly but surely. Next time you're hurt or in pain, put your hand on the person/the part of you/you who's so hurt and feed in the love. You are worthy and deserving.
Live loud, love fierce, and suffer no fools. Kat x0x0x0

THE HOLIDAZE IS COMING! Like last year I will be offering gift certificates for readings: $60 for a half hour.
And for a reiki and reading combo: $250 Contact me to make arrangements. I make a beautiful certificate. Another idea is an astrology reading. I recently found a great astrologer by the name of Kristy Reilly. She's young, a virgo, affordable, and has no real idea how good she is.
Here is a link to her website. |
