WITCH SPEAK: MAY: 2016
It’s beautiful out, sunny, not too hot, not too cold, fresh. As I walked home from Whole Foods, I stopped for a moment, dropped my head back, and let the sun wash over my face. It felt divine. I breathed in three deep slow breaths and exhaled into my higher self, asking that it divide the chi (the Chinese word for life force) between my three selves; talking, younger and ancient. A subtle, undulating wave of pleasure riddled through me. Ah…Beltane. The Maiden returns and the young God gives chase. The grass greens where their feet touch the earth and flowers bloom with every caress. Sensuality reigns.
As a witch, the hub of my spirituality is an ever-deepening connection to the earth. The connection is not intellectual but sensual. The scent of freshly turned earth, the feel of a rose petal between my fingers, the leafing of the Witch Hazel tree, the smell of hyacinth, lazing in the new warmth of the sun. Sensuality has its own chi, a force so powerful new life is the result and alchemy is on display.
The body is animated by chi; what I call life force. Impacting your life force is the life force that runs that through everything — the animate and the inanimate — people, places, and things. Whenever you feel run down and at the end of your tether, it's usually because your chi is completely depleted from doing battle and/or simply showing up. There is group chi also; read any newspaper and it is quite clear that the chi/the life force of the collective and the earth is blocked by greed and profit. Bent Priestess has a few words to say about that this month.
The quality of every relationship you have, or will ever have, is determined by your relationship to yourself. Loving self, all of you, beyond all reason is how we evolve. Beltane energy is about love, sexy love. Pleasure rules. The chi exercise will put you directly in touch with this energy. If the themes of your life are far from pleasurable, get a reading or a healing, and try the chi exercise over the next couple of weeks. It won’t change the themes, but if you breathe the energy of Beltane into you, there will be a change in your approach that will not only be gentler on your heart and soul but ever so much more effective in moving along your life path.
